Cabinet nod likely for recruitments in key departments

The State Cabinet is likely to allow recruitment for filling vacancies in a few key departments such as Revenue, Food and Civil Supplies and Urban Development to ensure efficiency in administration, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Jayachandra said shortage of staff was affecting delivery of government services and the issue would be discussed at the Cabinet meeting, scheduled for Thursday. Jayachandra said several departments had petitioned the Finance Department seeking permission to take up recruitment. 

Sakaala implementation

The minister said Chikkaballapur stood first among the 30 districts in Karnataka in disposing applications filed under Sakaala, which ensures guarantee of delivery of government services. Uttara Kannada and Ramangara occupy the second and third positions respectively. In all, of the 16.18 lakh applications received under Sakaala in November, as many as 15.67 lakh had been disposed, he said.

The minister said Sakaala scheme has been shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Governance for 2013. The State government has stepped up efforts for getting ISO 9001 certification for the scheme. Recently, a delegation of officials from Pakistan visited the state to study the implementation of the Sakaala Jayachandra said.
