'Tibetans expect more'

He was delivering a lecture on the Central Tibetan Administration at the Thank You India festival held to commemorate 50 years of exile of Dalai Lama in India on Monday.
Despite numerous incidents, like the physical occupation of vast tracts of land belonging to India, there was an attempt by the Indian side to appease China, which was difficult to understand, he said.

Terming Chinese opposition to the Dalai Lama’s visit to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh as ‘preposterous’, Tethong said that India should have condemned China’s attitude.

He said that India and Tibet shared a deep spiritual connection and even though Tibetans were forced to leave their homes, coming to India was a kind of homecoming. “The way we have been able to set up our homes and our culture in India would not have been possible in any other country,” he opined.
