Politician must lead nation: Jaitley

In an oblique reference to Manmohan Singh, BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the country should be led by politician-prime ministers, subtly stoking the old controversy about twin centres of power model being followed by the UPA government since occupying Raisina Hill in 2004.

Addressing the 86th annual general meeting of Ficci, the  leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha emphasised that India cannot afford “a non-politician prime minister” and that the post was “not employment” driven.

Earlier, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh had  remarked that the twin model has failed.
