Maoists blow up block office in Malkangiri

Armed Maoists raided a block office in Odisha’s worst Naxal infested Malkangiri district early on Wednesday morning and blew it up with the help of powerful explosives triggering panic among the local villagers. The police have launched a combing operation to locate the red rebels involved in the incident.

According to official reports reaching the state headquarters from Malkangiri, about 40 to 50 armed Maoists including a few women cadres stormed the block office at Padia, about 70 kms from district headquarters town around 2 am by breaking open the lock of the office. First they set the office on fire and subsequently blew the concrete structure with the help of powerful explosives they had carried with them.
