The University of Mysore is considering installing closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) on its campus to keep a check on professors who “skip” classes.
Vice-chancellor K S Rangappa at an academic council meeting here on Monday said: “Several professors and lecturers from over half the number of departments in the University are known not to hold classes on a regular basis.”
Members of the committee put the number of errant professors at “15-20 per cent”. Stern measures like withholding salaries of erring professors will be initiated after amending the appropriate statutes, Rangappa said.
