Scrapping of VIP copter deal won't absolve govt of "wrongdoings" : BJP

BJP today claimed its campaign against the government on the Augusta Westland chopper deal has led to cancellation of the order but said this would not absolve the government of its "wrongdoings".

"This is a victory of BJP's sustained campaign against corruption of the Congress-led UPA government. Cancellation of the deal will not absolve the government of its wrongdoings because three helicopters have already been delivered and in case compensation has to be paid, the country will have to pay the damages," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.
He sought to know what the government intends to do on the issue of paying damages to Augusta Westland.

"Who is responsible for this scam? Congress, due to its non-transparent policies, has created space for scams in 2G spectrum allocation, Commonwealth Games anomalies, and Coalgate," Javadekar said.

BJP alleged the country and its people end up paying the price for the corruption indulged in by the Congress-led government.

"The country pays the price for this corrupt Congress regime. The UPA government will be remembered in history as government of, for and by the corrupt," Javadekar said.
