Toddler crushed under lorry

A two-year-old male child, who was playing outside a makeshift shed at an under construction site where his parents work, was crushed to death by the wheels of a lorry on Wednesday morning.

Anand, the only son of construction labourers, Durgappa and Basamma, from Lingasugur in Raichur district, came under the wheels of the lorry that was unloading cement sacks at a godown in Yelakunte, Hosur Main Road. The couple had migrated to the City three years ago, police said.

After unloading the cement sacks, the lorry driver turned the ignition on and began driving the vehicle. He, however, failed to see the toddler playing just in front of the lorry, and mowed him down. Anand was killed on the spot, police added.

The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene. Madiwala traffic police have booked a case.
