A manhunt has been launched for the man who is alleged to have molested a minor girl in Electronics City police limits on January 4. Seven teams have been formed under the leadership of T D Pawar, DCP, Southeast, for the purpose.

The incident occurred when the girl was returning home from school. “The girl is undergoing treatment at St John’s Hospital but she is not in a condition to give statement. Once she is fine, we will record her statement,” said Kamal Pant, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).

Home Minister K J George visited the hospital on Saturday night and enquired about the girl’s condition.

He said that the government would foot the girl’s medical expenses and promised to pay her parents Rs one lakh from his  own pocket.

Authorities at the St John’s Hospital said the child was responding to treatment and was talking regularly. But she still needed time to overcome the trauma. Members of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) also visited the hospital on Sunday. K S Vimala of AIDWA said the organisation would stage a protest against the sexual abuse, at the Bommanahalli junction on Monday.
