JOIN USA mother of four was allegedly repeatedly raped by a relative at Karawal Nagar in north-east Delhi.
Though the sexual harassment took place around two months ago, she registered a complaint on Saturday, allegedly because the accused threatened to kill her if she reported the matter.
The 42-year-old accused Ranjeet has been arrested and sent to jail. The 20-year-old victim lives in Karawal Nagar and is a distant relative of the accused. She had mortgaged her property with him to borrow some money, police said.
Around two months ago, she offered to pay the money and asked him return her documents.
“The victim went to his house to plead with him to return the documents citing her poverty but he, instead, raped and threatened her,” said a senior police officer.
He allegedly continued to sexually assault her for days after that and threatened to kill her if she approached the police.
“She finally gathered some courage and reported the incident to Karawal Nagar Police Station on Saturday. We arrested the accused on the same day and sent him to jail,” said the officer.
While police are still awaiting the medical results of both the victim and the accused, they are also conducting parallel investigation into the matter from all possible angles.
