Man rapes daughter, fathers her child

A man allegedly had repeatedly raped his teenage daughter in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut town, about 450 kilometres from here, as a result she became pregnant.

The matter came to light when some neighbours noticed that she was pregnant and asked the girl about it, according to the reports.

Sources said that the victim told the neighbours that her father had confined her to the house at Lisad Gate locality in the town and had been raping her for the past several months.

She also said that the culprit had threatened to kill her if she told any one about it.

Bid to hush up

According to the reports, some people, who were known to the family of the culprit, initially tried to hush up the matter and the girl was sent to her maternal grand father.

Some reports said that a panchayat had also been convened to settle the matter without letting it reach the police. Police officials, however, refuted the reports of convening of the panchayat.
The victim said that her father had repeatedly raped her. “I had been confined to the house...my father did not allow me to go outside,” she said.

She said that her father deserved to be hanged. A report in this connection was later lodged by the victim, who approached the cops with her uncle.

The alleged culprit had been absconding and a hunt had been launched to nab him, the police said.
The statement of the victim had been recorded and a medical examination would be conducted, they added.
