No illegal mining in State, claims Yeddyurappa

Talking to media persons in Shiggaon in Haveri district on Thursday, the CM said he would look into the Lokayukta report on the issue and get a report from the Forest department on the complaints of illegal mining.

To a query on the Union government’s offer to extend help for an inquiry into the illegal mining, he said he would write to the Centre in this regard.

In Mysore, Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde said the state should take a look at the 1600-page report that his department had submitted to the government two years ago.
The CBI probe at this stage would only delay the matters further. It might reach a dead end as the probe is likely to take a couple of years, Justice Hegde  added.
