The Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) will kickstart on January 25 and the team of ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’ was officially introduced to the public at an event held at the Forum Mall recently.

Sudeep, the captain of the team, chose to stay away from the usual introductory sessions and introduced each member of the team through a short skit instead. And this is what impressed those gathered at the mall.

The ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’ walked away with the cup last year and this year too, the team believes it would emerge victorious.

Led by ‘Kichcha’ Sudeep, the team includes Darshan, Sunil Rao, J Karthik, Dhruv, Diganth, Pradeep, Chiranjeevi Sarja, Bhaskar, Rajeeva, Mahesh, Abhimanu, R K Rahul, Ravi Chetha, Vishwas and Bhuvan to mention a few.

The team, that is popular for its consistent performance not only on the field but also in the entertainment industry, left the crowd yearning for more.

Heading a team, according to Sudeep, is no easy task. The team has been working hard for the last one month. “The boys are supposed to report for practice before sunrise and there is no compromise on time. There is pressure but last year’s victory has eased us a lot and this year, we are better prepared for the game,” Sudeep opined.

He further stated that the team members spend a lot of time together. “Good performance comes from a good team spirit and that comes only when the boys bond well. Our icon has always been Ambarish sir, be it movies or sport. Every player has something exceptional to offer,” he added.

Pradeep, the fastest bowler in the team, said, “My father wanted me to become a cricketer. However, I have associated myself with the game through CCL and some of my movies as well. In addition to a lot of hard work, the game has taught me discipline and important strategies.”

Chiranjeevi Sarja, another young player of the team, said he has always watched and followed how Sudeep plays but can never imagine leading the team.

“It’s not easy to lead a team and since we won last year, we feel the pressure to grab the cup this year as well. The sport instills a sense of discipline and responsibility in every player,” he added.

The bouncers and mall security were not enough to control the fans, who pushed and pulled each other to get a closer glimpse of their favourite stars. The excitement grew louder the moment Sudeep walked in.

Saritha, a software professional, left her office early to attend the event. “It’s not always that you get to see the stars this close. I am a big fan of Darshan and Sudeep. I couldn’t get to meet them but just seeing them in person was exciting,” she said.

Sam Joseph, a student of Christ University, accompanied a bunch of his friends to see the actors. “I am crazy about cricket and don’t miss any event that has got to do with the sport. Film stars playing cricket is indeed exciting to watch,” he added.
