Tipu tableau for R-Day parade

 The Karnataka State government, which has won the President’s awards for its tableaux in the past four years, will feature Tipu Sultan at the Republic Day parade in New Delhi this time.

According to Department of Information, one portion of the tableau has a lifesize bust of Tipu and a sword and the other depicts his defeat  in the Second Mysore War. 

The tableau that will be on display on January 26 has been adopted from the painting of Brown who has pictured a ‘Vakeel’ escorting Tipu Sultan’s sons.

Famous sword

This also depicts Tipu’s famous sword measuring 91 cm with a hilt carrying an Arabic inscription which reads “Sword of the Ruler.”
