The ‘Karnataka Fashion Week’, which was held at the Bowring Institute on
St Mark’s Road, drew to a close in a dazzling manner.

On the last day, the theme being pret-a-porter, people came dressed as ‘Global
Bangalorean’, which was the dress code for the evening.

Some of the designers who took part include Jason & Anshu, Asif Shah, Runa Ray, Karan Bhattachrya, Lokesh Ahuja, Yashila and Sonali. The first two days of the three-day fashion show had khadi and bridal finery as themes.

Designer Asif Shah’s collection of Indian wear was a riot of colours and vibrant. “A lot of my collection is Indo-western wear. I’ve incorporated a number of colours. But the highlight of this evening is the bridal wear,” he said.

Sounak Sen Barat, who pointed out that his collection was ‘fresh from the oven’, said, “I haven’t stuck to a particular season. That’s why there’s a mix of a spring-summer and autumn-winter collection. It’s easy, breezy and versatile.”

About ‘Couture’, their signature garment, he said, “That’s an exclusive collection. The sari goes with a jewel- sequenced blouse. I hope the customers come up to us for orders at the end of the show.”

Devika Krishnamurthy, who walked the ramp for several designers, said that months of hard work had gone into the show. “It’s exciting to showcase the collection of so many designers. It’s a wide range with numerous designers from other cities taking part as well,” she said.

Mentoring the models one last time before the show, Prasad Bidapa was heard telling the models to ensure high energy levels on stage. “Ensure that it is a good show and make me proud,” he said.

“We have a spectacular and diverse collection on display. In fact, on each of the days, we have something different and interesting to offer,” he added.

The audience in the packed venue wanted more. “It was a wonderful show and the collection was awesome. There was a good mix of Indian and western wear. I’ve attended the shows on all three days and find the designers so talented with a keen eye for detail,” said Rajashree, a member of the audience.

Veena, another guest said, “I watched the shows on all three days and it was an interesting mix of Indian and western wear. From what I have seen of the collection this evening, it is really good.”
