Mayookha clinches long jump gold

Long jumper Mayookha Johny grabbed the long jump gold on the first day of the 34th PSPB inter-unit athletics meet here at the Sree Kanterava stadium on Tuesday.

Mayookha, who represents ONGC, took the gold with a jump of 6.04 metres. S Praneeta Pradeep (5.45) and Meghana Shetty (4.85) claimed silver and bronze respectively.

In the men’s 100 metres, HPCL’s Karthikeyan took the gold with a time of 10.8 seconds, while S Praneeta Pradeep of IOCL clocked 12.5 seconds to take home the women’s 100 metres gold.

In the men’s 1500 metres race, Oil and Natural Gas Commission’s (ONGC) Ghamndaram clocked 4:07.6 to clinch the gold while team-mate Preetham Kumar bagged the silver at 4:07.9 and Shashibhushan Singh (4:08.5) of Oil India settled for the bronze.

ONGC’s Kuldev Singh annexed the 400 metres hurdles gold with a timing of 53.0s with Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s (IOCL) Jagdish Chandra finishing in the silver medal winning position, three seconds behind, at 53.3. C Bindu Aquito took bronze at 53.6.
S Harshith of ONGC pocketed the gold in the men’s high jump competition with a best leap of 2.00 while HPCL’s Ajay Kumar (1.9) and Jijo Kurian (1.8) of IOC collected the silver and bronze respectively.
