Food, clothes and colours brightened the campus of the Centre for Management Studies, Jain University recently as the final-year students organised a flea market called ‘Food and Flea’.

Right from mouth-watering delicacies like cupcakes and canapes to nail-art and mehendi, a number of stalls were set up for the students to have a fun-filled day. Attractive clothes, accessories and books were also a part of the market. Good music also added to the spirit of the occasion.

In fact, Pratik Jain, the DJ, was one of the students of CMS. The students also put forth some fun games which throughly entertained the crowd. For Angana S, a student volunteer, the flea market was a welcome break from the routine.

“It was a breather from the mundane college life. It was a unique way to contribute to the society,” she said. Pooja K, a visitor, was coming to a flea market for the first time. “It was a vibrant forum which helped me meet new people. I loved the experience,” she said.

Kavya S, who was a part of the organising team, said, “It was challenging and fun. We tried to get various small-scale businesses to showcase their products. We are glad to be doing something like this since it is for a worthy cause. We will be donating the money that we have collected to an orphanage.”

She added, “We are now waiting for the day that we will be going there.” The teachers were extremely impressed with the efforts the students had put in for the cause. Bhagya B, a lecturer at the college, said, “It was great to see the students taking on a theme like ‘Food n Flea’ and turning it into a success for a good cause.”

Sri Varun Ganesh, another lecturer, agreed and said, “We are glad that the students have taken it upon themselves to help the needy.”
