Designers are all set to showcase their latest designs on the ramp and fashion followers are ready to style themselves in the colours of the upcoming seasons.
As per Ritu Kumar, one of the best designer in India, “The trend is of staying with the traditional for formal wear but giving it a modern twist. Tunics are making a comeback with leggings. Kurtis are still popular and skirts are making a comeback with more casual young avatars. The colours which will rule the upcoming season are bright and happy colours such as yellow, orange and various shades of blue. Earthy pastel tones will also be in vogue this season.”
In terms of fabrics, “Chiffons, crepes, nets and fine flowing fabrics will work well for summer, especially for the see-through look. One should look out for quirky patterns and designs. And Ikats will still continue to rule,” added Ritu.
On the other hand, Vandy Mehra, Group director of Study By Janak, said, “Bold stripes or big checks are the sure shot patterns for the upcoming season. Shirt dresses will also be a sure shot winner. Comfort is the key this season and a shirt dress will be the best piece of cloth for both morning and evening look.”
In terms of fashion, boys are also not left behind. Designer Sunil Mehra, said, “Keeping with the season’s trends, the collection comprises straight, contemporary and minimalistic cuts with a vintage finish. Colours like rose pink, electric and mosaic blues. And colours like orange and turquoise could be paired with natural or skin colours.
In terms of Indian wear, for summers, short sherwanis with light colours can be a good option. For fabrics one can choose blended fabrics like linen, cotton and silk. For western outfits, blended linen silk suit in pastel which is ideal for summer can be great option. In terms of fabrics, one can go for fabrics like linen silk, plain silk, and cotton silk with different cuts.”
