Former CM flays state government for wooing members of minorities

Refusing to make it clear about his interest to contest from a particular constituency in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, opposition leader in the Legislative Council D V Sadananda Gowda has said that he will not  declare himself as a candidate of any constituency before the BJP central committee releases the list of its candidates.

He was speaking to mediapersons at guest house during his visit to the city on Sunday. The State committee leaders will meet the BJP national president at Delhi before finalising the list of candidates contesting from each constituency in the State. The party national president is expected to finalise the names of 18 to 20 candidates in the first phase, he said.

Criticising the Congress for following the mechanism of wooing a few section of people for political reasons since it came to power in the State, former chief minister said that they are trying to woo minority communities. The programmes announced by the Congress government reflects the policy of the government. The BJP will fight against the politics played by the Congress, he said.

He blamed the State government for failing to maintain law and order in the State. A total of 12 communal clashes have reported in the State in the last eight months, after the Congress came to power, he said.
