RWA to revive Halasur lake

The Halasaru Lake Residents’ Welfare Association joined hands with MEG Staff on Tuesday in cleaning of the lake. V Purushotham, president of the association said that Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike had not taken any steps to clean the lake all these years.

The water body had been contaminated due to overflow of sewage from the nearby septic tank, he said. The members of the association said that their cleanliness drive will continue till the entire trash in the lake is cleared.

“Our association and an United Way of Bengaluru (UWBe), an NGO,  took over the maintenance of lake, a few months ago, from the BBMP. Seating facility will be provided in the lake vicinity soon,” Purushotham said.
