The 164 people on board the plane, including five crew members, were safely evacuated and the aircraft was moved to the isolation bay, officials said.

The plane, which was scheduled for departure at 8.55 pm, had been surrounded by CISF personnel and bomb squads to scan for any explosives, sources said.

Passengers were deboarded and taken to the terminal building for second security check. Anti-sabotage checks were carried out on the aircraft. A CISF official said, once all the checks are completed, they would clear the Delhi-Hyderabad flight 6E 307.

“Our call centre received a threat and we instantly acted and grounded the flight. All passengers are safe,” an Indigo spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police arrested a man, identified as Mubarak, 20, in this connection on Sunday night. Mubarak was arrested in the Bhagirath Vihar area in East Delhi, DCP (IGI, Airport) K C Trivedi said.

Mubarak is the relative of one of the three passengers, identified as Ruzwan Malik, who reported late for the flight, a CISF official said.

The arrest came after the CISF personnel provided the Delhi police with the number of the PCO in Yamuna Vihar from which Mubarak had allegedly called the Indigo call centre, claiming there were explosives and weapons on board the plane.
