Arrested for forgery

The Peenya police have arrested a man on the charge of forging documents to stand as a surety for person arrested in a criminal case. The arrested has been identified as Kalapegowda.

Police said that Gowda had offered himself as a surety to secure the release of Manja alias Manjunath arrested in connection with a criminal case.

He had claimed himself as Uttaiah in the application filed seeking bail for Manja. The fraud came to light when Manja jumped bail and did not appear before police. The police tracked down Gowda, and during the investigation, he confessed to forging documents and impersonating himself as Uttaiah, who died a couple of years ago.

Drug peddlers held

The Women and Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch has arrested four men on the charge of peddling a narcotic drug.

The arrested have been identified as Srinivasa, 42, K H Raju, 39, Santosh, 28 and Ramesh, 40, all from Bangalore. The arrests were made following a raid on a building near Hesaraghatta. The police have seized one kilo of  narcotic drug, a moped and five cell phones from the arrested. A case has been registered at Soladevanahalli police station.

In another incident, the CCB sleuths raided a house in HSR Layout, Sector IV on Friday evening and arrested three men for running a prostitution ring.

The arrested have been identified as Devaraj, 26, Ratan, 25 and Anil, 24. Two women – one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Kolkata – who were pushed into flesh trade, were rescued during the raid. They were lured into prostitution on the promise of lucrative jobs.
