Students dance to glory at 'Brains n Beats'

The second and last day of the Deccan Herald ‘Brains n Beats’ inter-collegiate festival on Friday saw a number of talented dancers from over 50 colleges competing for the coveted crown of “Beats” champion.

Loud cheering was the order of the day at the jam-packed hall at Oxford College of Art and Science. Students participating left no stone unturned to outdo one another in the dance competition, which was divided into semi-classic and contemporary/modern.

Finally, out of the 25 dancers who competed in the semi-classical category, BMS College of Engineering took home the first prize of Rs 30,000. PES Degree College won the second prize of Rs 24, 000 and PES Pharmacy College the third prize of Rs 18,000. A consolation prize of Rs 3000 was given to BMS College for Women in this category.

A total of 30 dancers competed in the contemporary/ modern category. However, it was PESIT that emerged as the ultimate winner. BMS College of Engineering bagged the second prize. The third prize was won by K S School of Engineering and Management and the consolation prize went to PES Degree College.

Rakesh Agarwal, Managing Director, Paramount Nutrition and Johnson Leon, Assistant General Manager, Arena Animation, were present during the prize distribution ceremony.
