JOIN USDempo beat East Bengal through Tolgay Ozbey’s 75th-minute goal in the 18th round encounter of the I-League, played at the Nehru Stadium, Margao, on Sunday.
With this win, Dempo took their tally to 22 points from 17 matches and moved to sixth place, while East Bengal remained on 19 points from 13 matches.
A fit-again Uilliams Bomfin made a spectacular comeback to effect Shillong Lajong FC’s turnaround from two goals down to hold United SC and return to top four at Kalyani.
United SC looked all set to dominate with goals from Eric Brown (13th) and Waheed (22nd).But debutant Durga Boro (30th) pulled one back after being set up by Uilliams who also scored a 55th minute equaliser to earn 2-2 draw and shatter United’s hopes.
The North East side now have 21 points from 16 matches, compared to United’s 20 from 17.
