<p>The Assocham National Education Excellence Award-2014 in the category of “Best University Serving Social Cause” was conferred on O P Jindal Global University at an event held here.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Prof C Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the university and Prof Y S R Murthy, Registrar, received the award recently from Padma Vibhushan Dr Karan Singh. The jury chose the university from more than 450 nominations. <br /><br />The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) organised a one-day national conference on Excellence in Education followed by Assocham National Education Excellence Awards – 2014, to felicitate those who contributed significantly to improving quality of education, innovation, research and development.<br /><br />Prof C Raj Kumar said: “As the university is completing five years since its establishment in 2009, it is a great honour to receive the Assocham National Excellence Award. JGU is deeply committed to public service and this award is a recognition of the university's outstanding contributions to social causes through teaching, research, knowledge creation and capacity building and in particular serves as a testimonial to the working of the research centres in the fields of clinical and rural governance programmes in law, health, human rights, victimology, and women’s rights."<br /><br />Assocham National Education Summit and Excellence awards was supported by the Planning Commission, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Association of Indian Universities and the National Skill Development Corporation. <br /></p>
