A Mumbai-bound Emirates flight from Dubai with 231 passengers on board made an emergency landing due to a suspected brake failure, airport sources said here.

All passengers of the flight are safe, they said.

"Emirates' Dubai-Mumbai flight EK 506 made an emergency landing at 1412 hours today due to a one engine braking indication failure," airport sources said.

The full emergency was withdrawn at 1420 hours, they said.

The airline's response was awaited. Later, Emirates said in a statement that the flight was accorded priority landing and the safety of passengers is paramount.

"Emirates flight EK506, an Airbus A330, travelling from Dubai to Mumbai landed safely today at 14:12 local time. As a precautionary measure, the flight was given priority clearance for landing, following a minor technical issue," it said.

"At no point was the safety of the flight in jeopardy. The safety of our passengers and crew is of the highest priority and will not be compromised," it added.
