Heena, Chain nail gold for India

Women's team claims silver

 India struck twin gold through Heena Sidhu and Chain Singh at the 7th Asian Air Gun Championship at Kuwait City on Monday.

Heena won the gold medal in women’s air pistol event. She shot superbly in the qualification rounds to top the charts with 386/400. She maintained her lead in the final, where she shot 200.3 to clinch the gold medal.

Heena is the world record holder of finals with a score of 203.8, which she shot at the ISSF World Cup Finals at Munich in 2013. The silver medal was won by Wu Chia Ying of Chinese Taipei (198.3) while Oman's Wadha Al Balushi (177.3) settled for bronze.

India’s Shweta Chaudhary, who also made it to the finals, finished fifth. Her qualification score was 378, and she shot 131.8 in the finals.

The team consisting of Heena (386), Shweta (378) and Harveen Srao (374) won the silver medal in team event with a total score of 1138/1200. India were tied with China, who claimed the gold on the basis of inner 10 scores, while Chinese Taipei won the bronze.

Chain won with a score of 206 in the final after shooting 619.6 in the qualification round. Although Chinese shooter Liu Zhiguo produced the best score in the qualification round, Chain produced an impressive effort to come on top in the final.

China’s Qin Cong (204.5) and Liu (183.7) won the silver and bronze respectively.
In the team event, Chain (619.6), Ravi Kumar (620.7) and PT Raghunath (615.8) won the bronze medal. The gold and silver medals were won by China and Iran respectively. India so far have won three gold, two silver and two bronze medals in the event.
