Ramya bats for special laws to protect women

MP Ramya said, there is a need to enact special laws to provide security to women.
She was speaking to reporters after consoling the mother and family members of a seven-year-old girl of Nuggahalli, in the taluk, who had been allegedly raped and murdered by one Madhu last week.

She said, the barbaric act was a shame on society and stringent action should be taken against the accused.

Stating that the model code of conduct, in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha election, was a hurdle in the way of granting compensation to the family of the victim, Ramya said, the State government should take steps to provide compensation immediately after the elections.
Women of the village complained that the number of families suffering due to alcoholism was on the rise due to illegal wine shops.

MLA K S Puttanniah, Zilla Panchayat Member A L Kempugowda, District Sevadal president Ko Pu Gunasekhar, PSSK director Kennalu Nagaraju and others were present.
