The AICC has named former minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah as president of the first Pradesh Congress Committee for Telangana.

Former minister N Raghuveera Reddy has been made Seemandhra PCC chief. Speaking to mediapersons soon after his appointment, Raghuveera said the post has come to him at a difficult time. He completely backed the party’s decision on bifurcation saying that the Congress has in fact stopped Andhra Pradesh from being bifurcated for the last 60 years.

He said his PCC team will try to revive the Congress in Seemandhra region if not in the immediately, but over a period of time.

Even though the name of united APCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana’s name was doing the rounds as the next head of the PCC of Seemandhra, he has reportedly expressed his unwillingness to continue. Till recently former ministers Anam Ramanrayana Reddy and Kanna Lakshminarayna were also in the race but now Anam will be taking care of the manifesto committee.
