Two students have been expelled by Modern School in south Delhi after a video showing them bullying a senior went viral on the web a few days ago.

The other three students who were cheering them will make a public apology soon, said a school trustee.

Modern School in Vasant Vihar declared its decision in a meeting with parents on Thursday. At 9 am, some 500 parents turned up to discuss the issue.

“Parents were satisfied with our decision,” said school trustee Ashok Pratap Singh.

The two students appeared for their last exam on Thursday. “They will not join our school in the next session,” Singh said. “The other three students will make a public apology after their exams are over,” he added.

The incident that reportedly took place on Monday, brings to the fore the issue of use of mobile phones in school premises as the clip was shot by a student on a cell phone.

“We have also discussed the use of mobile phones at length with parents in an nearly two-hour meeting,” Singh said.

“We have decided to follow stringent measures to stop the use of mobile phones by kids in school and for this we have sought cooperation from parents as well,” he added.
The video showed two class VI students roughing up a class VII student, while three others were seen cheering them.
