4 killed in accidents

Four persons, one of them a woman, were killed in separate accidents in the City since Friday.

Yashodamma, 50, of Laggere,  was mowed down by a vehicle near Summanahalli flyover in Kamakshipalya traffic police limits in the early hours of Saturday.
She was crossing the road near the flyover at around 4.30 am to catch a bus to her daughter’s house in Kengeri, when a speeding vehicle struck Yashodamma killing her on the spot. The driver did not stop the vehicle after the accident, Kamakshipalya traffic police said. The police have been examining the CCTV footage to trace the offending vehicle.

In another accident, two employees of a private company were killed when a lorry rammed their two-wheeler near Kundlahalli Gate Main Road on Friday. The deceased are: Gururaj Shetty, 35, of Mumbai and a resident of Seegehalli, and Rubesh Mahalingam, 34, from Tamil Nadu who resided at Chennasandra.

At around 2.15 pm, the two were on their way to their workplace - Intel - at Whitefield, after lunch when a lorry bound for KR Puram rammed their bike. The lorry ran over Rubesh as he fell down, killing him on the spot. Shetty, who suffered serious head injury, was shifted to a nearby hospital, where he died at around 12 am, the police added. The lorry driver has been arrested and KR Puram traffic police have registered a case. A man, whose identity is yet to be established, was mowed down by a hit-and-run vehicle Goruguntepalya in the early hours of Saturday. 

Police said that the deceased is aged about 45 years and the accident occurred while he was crossing the road. Yeshwantpur traffic police have registered a case.

Woman robbed of cash

In a case of attention diversion, two miscreants robbed Kannada film producer K Manju’s wife Lakshmi of her bag containing Rs two lakh cash on Friday evening.
She was in a jewellery showroom at Koramangala around 6.15 pm when a person came and told her driver that a Rs-50 currency note has fallen near the car door. When the driver got down to pick the note, another person opened the boot of the vehicle and took away the cash bag and documents, said the police. The police are analysing the footages of the CCTV camera to identify the miscreants.
