With some leaders of city Janata Dal-United party joining the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday, Delhi BJP chief Harsh Vardhan said the development will boost the party’s objective of winning all seven seats.

Harsh Vardhan and former BJP legislator S C L Gupta said there was panic among the opposition parties due to BJP’s growing popularity.

“This is the first Lok Sabha elections after 66 years of India’s independence in which the people of the country have decided even before voting that this time they will ensure that BJP comes to power at the Centre,” said Harsh Vardhan, who is contesting from the Chandni Chowk seat.

The Delhi BJP chief also slammed the AAP. “The leader of that party, which was nurtured by the people of Delhi , Arvind Kejriwal is avoiding election from Delhi,” he said.

The  JD-U leaders who joined the BJP included Diwakar Jha, Surendra Gupta, Sunil Kashyap, Roopesh Rajan, Srinath Jha, Dushyant Jha, Arvind Chaudhary, Bhuwanji Jha and Poonam Jha. The JD-U had left the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance last June.
