Karnataka Knowledge Commission has developed the portal in association with the Kannada Development Authority (KDA). The State government had allocated Rs 2 crore, as initial amount for the portal in the budget 2009-10.
Knowledge Commission member secretary Prof M K Sridhar and KDA Chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru in Bangalore on Thursday, said at the outset the portal would host information on literature, history, culture, art, science, social science, agriculture, technology in brief.
It would be developed gradually encouraging active participation of viewers. International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore is offering technical support for the portal.
However, the information posted by the viewers would be hosted on the portal after a panel of experts clear it. Chief Minister Yeddyurappa will launch the portal and also announce the uniform resource locator (URL) of the portal.
