<p>KVC staged a stunning upset win over DYES at the Sree Kanteerava indoor stadium on an intense Saturday to add a dash of unpredictability ahead of the final day of the Karnataka Volley League (KVL).<br /><br /></p>.<p>KVC, who have been one of the easier opponents in the five-phase tournament, were expected to buckle under the pressure of playing DYES, who have won two phases until now.<br /><br />Instead, KVC registered a 3-2 (25-20, 25-21, 16-25, 20-25, 18-16) victory to set up an enthralling title battle between DYES and JSW, who notched up a 3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 25-27, 25-19) win over BSNL earlier in the day.<br /><br />Coming into Saturday, DYES led the table with 53 points while JSW were second with 52 points. <br /><br />The latter’s win, however, pushed them up to 55 points and DYES – by virtue of having played out a five-set match – gained one point despite the loss to take their tally to 54 points but slid down to second. <br /><br />With one point seperating the two, it comes down to the virtual final on Sunday (5.00 pm), and should DYES defeat JSW in a five-set match, the teams will be tied on 56 points apiece. <br /><br />If the teams end the league on even keel (points and number of wins), officials will crown the champ based on set ratio or on point ratio.<br /><br />Earlier in the day, Gurinder Singh, Jagdish, Deepesh Singh and Pramod impressed for JSW, while TD Ravikumar, Sathish and Manjunath played well for BSNL. <br /><br />For DYES, Akhin, Ganesh and Shravan were the main protagonists while Ashoka, Sanoj, Ravindra and PC Satisha played well for KVC in their stunning win. <br /><br />In the day’s final encounter, Postal notched up a comfortable 3-0 win over MEG.<br /><br />A Kathik, Senthil and Yeshwanth helped Postal on their way to a fine victory while Bharath, Vinod and Dibin were unlucky to finish on the losing side.<br /><br />Results: JSW bt BSNL 3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 25-27, 25-19); KVC bt DYES 3-2 (25-20, 25-21, 16-25, 20-25, 18-16); Postal bt MEG (25-21, 26-24, 25-19).</p>
