Ch'nagar JD(S) candidate files nomination

M Shivanna, according to the affidavit is worth Rs 3.1 crore

M Shivanna, who filed his nomination papers as the JD(S) candidate from Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituency, is worth Rs 3.1 crore, according to the affidavit filed by him.

Of his assets, Rs 38,31,595 are movable assets. He has immovable assets worth Rs 2,71,92,000.

Being a crorepathi, he has availed a loan of Rs 3.15 lakh from his wife S Devika and another Rs 2 lakh from his friend Nanjundswamy.

A BA graduate, Shivanna owns a house at Vijayanagar Third Stage, in Mysore, which is valued at Rs 1.33 crore. The affidavit claims that he owns no jewellery.

A total of two cases, including a poll code violation case being heard at JMFC Court in Mysore, have filed against him. The other case had been lodged against him during agitations against the Chamalapura power plant.

Nominations filed

Shivanna filed his nomination papers on Monday, accompanied by JD(S) MLA Chikkamadu and other leaders. Speaking to media persons, after filing his nomination papers, he expressed confidence of emerging victorious in the elections. 

“I had contested the last Lok Sabha elections too, but the voters did not favour me. However, in the past five years, I have travelled across the constituency to connect wit the people, by lending an ear to the grievances of the public,” he said.

The projects implemented during the tenure of H D Kumaraswamy as Chief Minister will ensure my victory in the constituency, he added.
