Krishnamurthy (35), a resident of Vijayanagar 2nd stage and an energy saving project engineer at Infosys Technologies in Hootagalli, allegedly attempted to rape the 31-year-old woman, staying at A-1 stage in the same locality. The woman is studying MA (Anthropology) in Manasagangothri and her husband is a management professor at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE).
The woman told the Vijayanagar police that Krishnamurthy came and asked for water when she was alone at home in the afternoon. As she went inside, Krishnamurthy followed her and attempted to rpae her. When she raised an alarm, the neighbours rushed to her help, thrashed Krishnamurthy and handed him over to the police.
Krishnamurthy, whose wife had left for Coimbatore, admitted to his crime and also sought pardon from the police.
