Pak on top against NZ

Last Updated 04 December 2009, 17:48 IST

Pakistan, resuming on their overnight score of 161 for six, added another 103 runs before being dismissed for 264 in 88.3 overs. Wicket keeper Kamran Akmal combined well with bowlers Mohammed Aamer and Umar Gul to hit 70.

The Kiwis, who lead the three-match series 1-0 after posting a narrow win in the opening Test, were off to a disastrous start losing both the openers -- Tim McIntosh and Martin Guptil -- with five runs on the board. Pacer Asif picked up four for 40 and leg-spinner Kaneria took three wickets -- latter’s spell reading 6-2-6-3.
