The Election Commission on Saturday said that it has received a detailed report on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s ‘provocative’ statements against BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, while campaigning in Mysore earlier this week.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anil Kumar Jha said that the report had been received from the Mysore Deputy Commissioner, and a decision on whether there was any poll code violation by the chief minister was yet to be taken.

“I am going through the report and will take a decision on the future course of action,” he said. Siddaramaiah had attacked Modi, saying that he was a ‘mass murderer’.

The EC has announced that 628 cases of violation of the poll code had been reported since March 5, till date. The maximum number of cases booked are in Belgaum with 124 violations, followed by Mysore and Chikodi with 119 and 105 cases, respectively.
