A good learning opportunity

The students of New Horizon College of Engineering organised ‘Enhance 14’ recently. 

This IT fest and tech symposium was put together by VISTA (Visualise, Innovate, Systemise, Target, Achieve), the students’ association of the department of computer applications.
 

The fest was open to undergraduate and post-graduate students.
 

With over 200 participants from 24 colleges, the fest had more than 10 events where in the students could take part.

Some of the events that were held included ‘Information Technology Manager’, ‘Quiz’, ‘Coding’, ‘Dumb Charades’, ‘Counter Strike Game’, ‘Treasure Hunt’, ‘Cut and Paste’, ‘Minute to win it’, ‘Texting’ and ‘Website Designing’. 

 

The second day of the fest had cultural events, in which students got a chance to showcase their creative side. 

“The fest was a great success not only for the department but for all the students who were part of it. Some of the events which garnered a large crowd were ‘coding’,  ‘web designing’, ‘dumb techie’, ‘tech manager’ and ‘typos’,” said Swapnil Shailesh Srivastawa, a student. 

“The feeling was awesome when students from other colleges came, participated and won awards. Being a part of the organising team, I personally feel that this was a good learning opportunity. As an MCA student, we are more aware about technical aspects. But putting together this event gave us an idea about how to manage and coordinate with team members and dealing with last minute issues,” he added. 

“The fest was a good mix of both technical events and cultural events. The hard work put in by the faculty members and students is commendable. It was quite a task to manage such a large crowd, but we are glad that we were able to, without many hitches,” said Payel Roy, a student. 

Srinivas Sharma, another participant said, “This was a platform for all the students to showcase their talents. It was also a good opportunity for the coordinators of the event who got to know the challenges in organising a fest. Also, as an MCA student, I got to know the practical aspects involved in marketing.”
