Churchill Brothers failed to carry their home form abroad as they slumped to a narrow 1-2 defeat against Home United of Singapore in an AFC Cup Group E encounter at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore on Wednesday.

The home side broke the deadlock when Fazrul Nawaz side-stepped three Churchill defenders before firing a shot into the back of the net.

The away side, who played without their three foreigners, put up a good fight and restored parity in the very next minute thanks to an own goal from defender Precious, whose sliced clearance sailed over goalkeeper Shahril Jantan into the net, stunning the home supporters.

Home United restored their lead in the 72nd minute when Indra Sahdan received a cutback from Castanheira and took a touch before blasting it into the left corner.

Churchill Brothers, who are struggling in the I-League,  still remain second in the group with six points from four matches while Home United are on four points from as many games.

Churchill’s next match is against Indonesian side Persipura Jayapura, the Group’s first placed team with 10 points, on April 9.
