In Telangana, bouncers to protect Congress leaders from mobs

The Telangana unit of the Congress has taken recourse to bouncers to protect its leaders from the supporters of disappointed ticket aspirants.

Hence, it is no surprise if Gandhi Bhavan, the office of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), looks like an elite club with bouncers, in addition to security personnel in black tee shirts, providing security to staff and leaders.

Sources said the arrangements were made after a 200-strong mob, supporters of an aspirant from Kukatpally, created ruckus in Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday. On Thursday, several bouncers were seen on duty to deter unruly Congress leaders and their supporters from entering the TPCC office on the Gandhi Bhavan premises.

With the number of ticket seekers increasing everyday, it has been a tough time for the handful of police personnel and the security staff to control the sloganeering supporters. Now, 10 well-built youth clad in blue jeans and black tee shirts, hired from a city-based security agency, will control the crowd till the conclusion of election process.
