Bangalore South Congress candidate Nandan Nilekani’s wife Rohini campaigned for her technocrat husband in the Mulsim-dominated slums of Gangondanhalli, off Chandra Layout, on Thursday morning.

“My husband is the one who started Infosys, which gave employment to lakhs of people directly and indirectly. He is the one who conceived the idea of Aadhaar scheme,” she informed the women she met at the Congress office in the Govindarajanagar Assembly segment.

“Nandan has entered politics because he thinks he can serve people better. Many politicians come and go, but my husband will turn out to be a different person. He will complete the task he takes up. He has done so earlier,” she said, appealing to the women to give Nilekani a chance to serve them.

After enquiring about the problems the women in the area faced, Rohini said Nilekani had plans for everyone and voters will surely be happy for choosing him. “Ultimately, what matters is that you should be satisfied that you voted for a better and honest person,” she said.

Pointing out that the Bangalore South constituency was very vast with over 20 lakh people, she said Nilekani being a busy man cannot meet every single voter. “But he will listen to all your problems. I can assure you that,” she said.

Nilekani, who was expected to campaign at Gangondanhalli, was unable to do so due to his busy schedule.
