Award-winning director PC Shekar likes to challenge himself all the time. All his previous projects in the Kannada film industry, be it Nayaka, ‘Romeo’ or Chaddi Dost, have dealt with unique subjects.

He attempted romance in one, dabbled with comedy in the other and now he’s ready to explore mystery.
Shekar confesses that he has 37 scripts ready and is slowly completing one project after another. “There are stories running in my head all the time. I wrote the script for my current project after I read a couple of crime-related reports in the newspapers and watched news on the television. There’s a certain freshness about my next project,” Shekar tells Metrolife.

His next project, which will begin in the second week of April, will have veteran actor Devaraj and his son Prajwal play prominent roles. “It’s not a typical father-son role. If you’ve watched his previous projects, you would know that Devaraj is known for his cop roles and tough appearances and in this project as well, he will don the role of an investigating officer,” explains Shekar.

Talking about why he chose Prajwal, Shekar explains, “I would like to break the romantic image of Prajwal and project him in a different light. He has a serious side to him and I would like to cash in on that aspect,” Shekar adds. He furthers states that Devaraj’s character in the movie is such that he will talk less and be more of an observer.

“The two characters are in contrast to each other. We hope to rope in Bhama to play the female lead. We were looking for someone who can handle the character with ease and maturity. We found the right qualities in Bhama, who is known for her commitment and discipline, when it comes to work,” states Shekar.

After ‘Romeo’, Shekar is again joining hands with Ganesh for another project where he will for the first time play a double role. “I’ve spent a lot of time with Ganesh and I gathered that he can be just as serious as he is jovial. He can carry off any role with ease and perfection. In the project with Ganesh, there will be two different stories that will merge into a third story after the interval. It is three different stories knit into one,” shares Shekar.

Talking more about what Shekar has in store for Ganesh, he informs, “He will appear in a double role and there won’t be any similarity between the two characters. One will be the regular Ganesh and the other will see Ganesh talk very less. He will have hardly five dialogues in the whole film.

But that’s the thrill in the film,” Shekar signs off.
