Congress questions Modi's morality

Last Updated 11 April 2014, 07:42 IST

A day after Narendra Modi acknowledged Jashodaben as his wife, the Congress questioned his “morality” and “credibility”, asking why the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate kept “misguiding” people with his “lies” so far.

All India Mahila Congress president, Shobha Ojha said, “It is unfortunate that it took him 46 years to tell the country that he is married. Every time he filed poll affidavit in the past, he kept the column for marital status blank. If he was married, why he conceal this so far? Why he had to disclose it now? Country wants a reply.”

The Congress leader also slammed the Gujarat chief minister for keeping Jasodaben deprived of her “social, legal and moral rights”. “How would a person, who is aspiring to become a prime minister, fulfil his promise that he will ensure safety and dignity of women of the country when he  failed to do so in case of his wife,” Ojha said.
