'I was responsible for Gowda becoming PM'

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah continued his tirade against his former party and its leaders, here, on Saturday. He was addressing a gathering at a Lok Sabha election campaign meeting, organised by the Congress and the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha.

“The voters should reject the JD(S) as it does not have any commitment about the development of either the State or its people. By chance, if the JD(S) wins one or two seats, it would not shy away from joining either the NDA or the UPA. It is only an opportunistic party,” he said.

While the national parties are striving for the victory of all 28 candidates in the State, the JD(S) was campaigning in only a couple of constituencies. “Then, why is former prime minister Deve Gowda trying to fool the voters by telling them that if his party wins 15 seats, he will become the prime minister again. But, people understand his designs. The JD(S) will draw a blank this time,” Siddaramaiah said.

He also claimed that he was responsible for Gowda becoming the prime minister“In 1996, Siddaramaiah was with Deve Gowda. So, the party could win in 16 Lok Sabha constituencies, with the help of which Deve Gowda became the PM supported by Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Congress. Deve Gowda is now day-dreaming that he will become PM once again,” he said.
