District admin readies for 'free and fair' elections

120 polling stations considered either hypersensitive or vulnerable

The District administration has completed all the necessary arrangements to ensure free and fair elections in Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency, to be held on April 17, on Thursday.

A total of 9,468 personnel appointed by the district administration will serve at 1,973 polling stations. Of the officials, 2,367 will serve as presiding officers of polling booths, 2,367 as assistant presiding officers and 4,734 as election officers.

Each polling booth will consist of a presiding officer, an assistant presiding officer and two election officers have been deputed by the district administration. Apart from this, a local ‘D’ group employee and booth level officers will also be deputed at the booths, to identify the voters.

The district administration will also make use of 331 KSRTC buses, 68 Matadors, 329 light motor vehicles and other vehicles to transport election officials and the Electronic Voting Machines to transport to the polling booths.

Of the 1,973 polling booths, 407 polling stations have been identified as hyper-sensitive polling stations, 564 as sensitive polling stations and 1,017 as normal polling stations.

Appropriate security arrangements have been made for the polling stations. Of the polling stations, web-casting will be done from 120 polling stations considered either hypersensitive or vulnerable. 
Mustering and de-mustering centres have been set up at each of the eight Assembly constituencies under Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency.

The mustering and de-mustering centre for Madikeri constituency will be St Joseph’s convent, Madikeri; for Virajpet, Junior College, Virajpet; Periyapatna, Pushpa Convent; Hunsur, St Joseph’s Educational Institute; Krishnaraja, JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram; Chamaraja, Maharaja Junior College, Mysore and Narasimharaja; Baden Powell Public School, Mysore.

The mustering centre for polling stations of Chamundeshwari constituency will be at People’s Park PU College, Mysore, while demustering centre will be at SJCE College, Mysore.
