'Sangha attacking people'

Last Updated 23 April 2014, 19:29 IST

General Secretary of the Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike K L Ashok on Wednesday countered the Sangha Parivar and Bajrang Dal for the death of a youth by the Anti Naxal Force personnel at Tanikodu on Sringeri–Karkala Road.

Speaking to media, Ashok said: “Some sections of the society are being targeted. While the naxals are targeting directly, the Sangha Parivar is indirectly attacking people.

The Vedike members and locals of Sringeri will stage a protest on Thursday.” Vedike members also objected stating that the government had not shown any concern to the family members of the deceased and that the home minister was irresponsible in this issue. They demanded a CBI inquiry into his death.

Karnataka Janashakti coordinator Gowri said that Muslims were not safe in and around the areas of Mangalore and that this incident serves as proof. The Tipu Sultan Samyukta Sangha president Sardar Ahmed Khureshi said that the Bajrang Dal was indulging in moral policing.
