8 new govt high schools in DK from next year

 They will come up in Aikala, Sadashivanagara, Surathkal, Ulaibettu, Bolyar, Kumpala, Bajalpadpu and Amblamogaru.

Mangalore taluk BEO Govinda Madiwala said the Department of School Education and Literacy of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India is in the process of launching Rastriya Madhyamika Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) on the lines of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), with an aim to achieve universal access and quality secondary education from the next academic year.

With this free education will be provided to children between 6 and 18 age group. Under the RMSA, the ratio of the student-teacher in each division will be 30:1. Every class should have three teachers in high school, i.e, for physics and mathematics, arts, and language.
The Abhiyan will include students from ninth standard to II PUC. It aims at providing infrastructure in schools such as new classrooms with furniture, library, science laboratory, computer room, disabled friendly provisions etc, recruitment of additional teachers with emphasis on Science, Mathematics and English teachers, in-service training of teachers, teaching aids such as ICT and special focus on SC/ST/minorities girls. Steps such as priority for opening or upgradation of schools in areas of SC/ST/minority/weaker section concentration and enrolment drives and special coaching classes in those areas are also envisaged under the scheme.
