Delhi Police arrested two persons in connection with two murders, including that of a village head, committed in Jharkhand. The duo belong to Pahadi Chita — a group which indulges in extortion, said Jharkhand Police.

Ram Vinay Sahu, 27 and his associate Ashok Singh alias Harkhu Singh, 20, are also accused in a case of attempt to murder.

In November 2013, Sahu allegedly murdered a pradhan of Morang panchayat, said Delhi Police. He has also been accused of murdering one Jagan Nath and his wife Kalawti, besides seriously injuring their two children in June last year.

Early in 2013, he was also booked in an attempt to murder case in Jharkhand, where he along with his associates tried to gun down a person. Their attempt, however, was unsuccessful.

On Saturday, Jharkhand Police came to know the duo were staying in Nihal Vihar area, West Delhi. The information was passed to Nihal Vihar police. Following this, Sahu and Singh were arrested from the same area. The duo reportedly tried to flee when the police went to arrest them.

On being interrogated, Sahu revealed that he had sought the help of six others in murdering Nath and his wife. They reportedly killed the couple over a family feud. Also, they wanted to seek revenge as Sahu’s relative was allegedly murdered by the associates of Nath in 2012, said Sahu during interrogation.

Later, the duo reportedly killed Yakub Lakda, pradhan of Morang gram panchayat as he was a supporter of Nath and his associates. Delhi Police have updated Jharkhand Police of the arrests made, a police statement said.
