The year is far from over. With a long list of movies scheduled to release this year, Metrolife finds out which are the most awaited ones.

Quite a number of action films are in store for us this year.

Namrata Chandrashekar, a first-year B.Com industry integrated student at Mount Carmel College, says, “I can’t wait for ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’.”

Tomji Verghese, a short film director from Cochin, pays a visit to the theatre as often as possible to keep close to his passion — films.

’I’m looking forward to the next ‘Transformers’ movie. I’m fond of all genres but action is my favourite,” he reveals.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ and ‘The Expendables 3 are the other awaited action films.

Gurleen, a design student, says, “I prefer animated movies and movies with a message. They are just so much fun.”

Ishita, an intern at Ebay, agrees and is in anticipation of ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’, coming this July.

‘Spongbob Squarepants 2’ and ‘Tinker Bell’ and ‘The Pirate Fairy’ have been scheduled to release later this year.

Professional dancers and friends, Latha and Pia, are poles apart in their taste but click with each other nonetheless.

“I’m open to all kinds of movies. It’s more about the experience for me. She is more picky though,” says Pia, grinning at her friend.

“I love comedy but am not a fan of drama. Simplistic movies suit my taste more,” explains Latha. Both of them then gush about Angelina Jolie and are waiting to catch her next flick ‘Maleficient’, the story of a vindictive fairy who is driven to curse an infant child who may be the only one who can restore peace.

Deepshika and Shaana, tourists from Mauritius, are closely awaiting the yet-to-be-titled ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off.

‘22 Jump Street’ is also something I’d watch. I love Channing Tatum. Who doesn’t?,” exclaims Deepshika.

Many girls are looking foward to ‘That Awkward Moment’, ‘The Other Woman’, ‘Step Up: All In’ and ‘Blended’.

Anjum prefers Hindi films over Hollywood cinema. “I am a die-hard Salman fan. His movie ‘Kick’ is coming and I cannot wait to watch it,” she says.

Anjali, totally smitten by Ranbir Kapoor, is in anticipation of ‘Bombay Velvet’.

While Anushka Sharma has three films in her bag with ‘NH10’, ‘Bombay Velvet’ and ‘Peekay’, Deepika Padukone has two films — ‘Happy New Year’ and ‘Finding Franny Fernandes’.

Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in ‘Holiday’, ‘Action Jackson’ and Tevar.

Humshakals, ‘All is Well’ and ‘Welcome Back’ are the three-awaited comedies of the year.

With so many movies to choose from, what is your pick?
