'Layout developers won't be penalised'

Minister in charge of Bangalore R Ashok on Tuesday said: “There is no provision in the rules to punish developers of unauthorised layouts. No complaint has been filed with us against any of the developers. Hence, it was decided to regularise unauthorised sites by collecting fines from individual site owners,” he admitted.

He blamed the governments in the past for allowing authorised layouts to come up across the State. “The governments in the past helped these developers to form illegal layouts. Our government is trying to set right these lapses,” he stated.

He further said the Government has decided to make a provision for booking criminal cases against unauthorised layout developers in future. The decision to this effect was taken in the Cabinet recently.
